♪ I'd like to make myself believe...♪

Because my dreams are bursting at the seams.

I like love the songs on my playlist.  If you could do me a favor, and listen to it while reading this post, I'd be ever so happy.  ☻

Loch Lomond

By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes,
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomon'.
where me and my true love were ever wont to gae
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomon'.

O ye'll tak' the high road and I'll tak the low road,
An' I'll be in Scotland afore ye;
But me and me true love will never meet again
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o' Loch Lomon'.

'Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen,
On the steep, steep side o' Ben Lomon',
Where in deep purple hue the Hieland hills we view,
An' the moon comin' out in the gloamin'.

The wee birdies sing and the wild flow'rs spring,
And in sunshine the waters are sleepin';
But the broken heart it kens nae second spring,
Tho' the waefu' may cease frae their greetin'

(The song was apparently written by a young soldier to his sweetheart. Two
of Bonnie Prince Charlies soldiers were captured in Carlisle after the
abortive rising of 1745. One wrote the song, the other was released and
took it back to Scotland to give to his colleagues sweetheart. The low road
refers to the soldiers impending death and the path of his spirit, whilst
the high road is either the sign of hope for which he sacrificed his life,
or the actual road back to Scotland over the high rugged hills.
Hence, his spirit would return via the low road and be back in Scotland

Isn't that so sad and beautiful?  I want to cry almost each time I listen to it.

And I have Alice's Theme by Danny Elfman.  Mr. Elfman may be in line for replacing John Williams as best composer EVER.
"Oh, Alice, dear where have you been?
So near, so far, so in-between
What have you heard? What have you seen?
Alice! Alice! Please, Alice!

Oh, tell us, are you big or small?
To try this one or try them all
It's such a long, long way to fall
Alice! Alice! Oh, Alice!

How can you know this way not that?
You choose the door, you choose the path
Perhaps you should be coming back
Another day, another day
And nothing is quite what is seems
You're dreaming! Are you dreaming? Oh, Alice!

Oh, how will you find your way?
Oh, how will you find your way?

No time for tears today. No time for tears today.
No time for tears today. No time for tears today.

So many doors, how did you choose?

So much to gain, so much to lose
So many things got in your way
No time today, no time today
Be careful not to lose your head
Remember what the Dormouse said, Alice!

Did someone pull you by the hand?

How many miles to Wonderland?
Please tell us so we'll understand
Alice! Alice! Oh, Alice!

Oh, how will you find you way?

Oh, how will you find you way?
Plus many others.  Like Fireflies...and When will my life begin?....and Sunshine and Lollipops...and Sh'Boom....and Jesus Take the wheel....I love me songs!

  1. Loch Lomond is my current fave song! Now I'm glad to know a bit of history behind it too. Thanks for sharing!

Kind words do not cost much. Yet they accomplish much.
