So. Humor? (ATSL day 3)

So, day 3 of the "Single Ladies" blog party hosted at "Just As I Am"!
I did, respectfully skip day 2, as I couldn't think of how to participate in that one. But, here I am now!

So. Humor?

Day 3 asks us to laugh at our singleness. For, in all things, there is something to laugh at, even if bitter. At least, I think there is. But, sometimes I'm like Glinda, and I think grand thoughts about things that aren't so.

Well, I don't have many laughable stories to tell you about my single life....but there is one...

I have this friend, bless her heart, she is a sweet one. She is almost in her Thirties, so she IS older than myself, but I still consider her a friend.

Little did I know that she was also a matchmaker....

This friend has a you her brother who, huzzah! Is the same age, roughly, as myself.

Can you tell where this is going?

Anyway, we hadn't known each other for long before she began selling the praise of her brother. How WONDERFUL he was in academics! All the girls in his school would just swoon if he paid attention to them (ok. So, maybe she didn't say JUST that...)
But I, being the absentminded, I-Could-care-less lass I am, I just smiled and agreed with her and changed the topic.

So, she stepped it up.

She began to bring her brother along with her when she went to events she knew I'd be attending. And frankly, I think he was as interested in me as I was in himself. (Ok. I'll admit...he was a /little/ cute. But just not my style of cute....).
So, she told both me, AND my mother about how we were practically the genderbent versions of each other. Interests, hobbies, passions, we were just SO ALIKE!
And at that moment, it hit me like a baseball bat to the cranium what she was trying to do. And I think he figured it out too, as our eyes met once, and the glance was purely apologetic.
And then, I heard about a week later, he had gotten a girl friend, so his Match making sister had to drop her efforts. But I must give it to her, Had I been open to the idea, she'd have done good. She was almost convincing as it was.
I truly feel sorry for her brother...at least I only had to deal with her match making when we saw each other, but he is her BROTHER.

Sisters have can be highly persistent. Especially older sisters

But, we haven't spoken of her dear brother since, and I am quite fine by that.

So, thats the funniest digs I have to give...
want some pinterest now?

PERFECT for this event, no?

So, I hope you dearly beloved followers have been enjoying my single-ness posts, albeit, there have only been two.
but two is better than uno, right?
Anyway....eh...news news news...I had news to give you...ah!

Monday is my birthday.
Just saying.
And...Tomorrow I'm going on a shopping/early birthday trip with my Mum and oldest younger sister (Shauna).

Well, thats all for now.
Cheerio my ol' cream crackers.

Come to the dark side, We have Mexican Wedding Cookies.

Today, My sister, Shauna, dragged me into the kitchen to make cookies. Thankfully, we didn't have any milk, so we had to opt out of Chocolate chips (Let me explain, I like Chocolate chip cookies, but I highly dislike making them. Plus, they hurt my teeth, so I end up spending a while in the kitchen helping her mix the dough together, and not be able to eat any of them. That isn't a good deal for me). I don't like cooking period, but I kinda had the feeling Mama wouldn't like it if I didn't help Shauna...she normally isn't to happy if I put up a fuss about kitchen work. Anyway, Shauna decided to wanted to make Mexican Wedding Cookies, which are really good (and don't hurt my teeth). Well, at first, she wanted to make Reese balls..but I (THANKFULLY)noted we only had 2 of the ingredients..I was saved from really long kitchen work.

Creaming the butter and the sugar.  It takes only 3/4 sugar, but 2 cups of butter.  For you fat haters out there (Which I'm not in league with..I'm da butter Queen), choose your greater evil.
The first couple of cookies, delightfully dusted with powder sugar.
 The whole fanangle.

Mixing the onnomnom goodness up.  Wanna know somethun? I took all the pictures in this post on my iphone. Yep. Instagram is my new most favorite thing. Ever.
La creamed butter al la sugar. Or, better known as, creamed heaven.

So, I've probably made you all drooling, and ruining your computers...so to make up for it, How about the recipe?

2 cups REAL butter (take that, plastic, AKA margarine, lovers)
3/4 c. Sugar
4 Tablespoons Vanilla
4 c. Flour
2 c. Finally chopped Pecans (this is optional, I prefer them with it, but since most of my family detest nuts, we skipped them this time)
Powdered Sugar

Cream Butter  and sugar.
Add remaining ingredients in order listed; mixing well.
Put in refrigerator for 2 hours (we also skipped this...cookies on a timeline, here!)
Roll into balls (makes approx 42) and bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Cool 5 minutes and then gently roll in powdered sugar.
Enjoy!

So..that was pretty much the gist of my day. That and school, learning how to make my Sims characters throw up (I've GOT to show that to you, Joanna!!), singing "Party Spock is in the house tonight, everybody have a logical time" due to THIS, and...general laying around, playing Sims, Dragonvale and reading.  Pretty boring day, all in all.

Signing off,
Spock Rock on,

WW and Ma Journee {Entry 2}

Today, has been, one of those days.  The type of day, where you can feel Satan just laughing at you as you blunder through.  I woke up feeling like I had this horrid burden, this horrible thing pressing down on my soul.  I felt like I was going insane.  I felt sick, I was nervous, worried, and agitated all day for some, unknown reason.
I still have no scientific answer to why I felt this way.  All I can say, is Satan sure has had a blast testing me, and poking fun while I blundered and cried, and lay in bed, curled into a fetus position.   I discussed the ordeal with my Mom, and after some prayer, and emotional calming exercises (You'll think me weird, but I use a Vulcan fear process.  Who cares if it came from a science fiction tv show? It works!) I began to feel better. I'm not a worry wort, so this has been an extreme strain on my soul, not to mention my body! I've just felt drained of all things happy.  Today was a bright, sunny day, but I spent all of it under a thundercloud. If that wasn't depression, I don't know what is!  Problem is, I had no idea why I felt that way!
I still don't feel 100%, but I'm pretty sure that by tomorrow, I'll be back to my normal self!

A song I've had to remember today has been this one, "You are my All in All".

"You are my strength when I am weak, you are the treasure that I seek, you are my all in all"

"Seeking you as a precious jewel, Lord to give up I'd be a fool, you are my all, in all".

"When I fall down, you pick me up.  When I am dry, you fill my cup".

Praise God for fresh tomorrows!

And, because today is Wednesday Wonders, and I need to remember something funny:

DOING THIS.

Be truthful...Did you see him right off?  Neither did I.

Victory was ours!

I laughed at this longer then was sane.

Oh, it feels Good.

You know you're from a large family if....

So, I was sitting here thinking, I really, really, really need to do a post...but what?  Stephanie from 'The King's Bookworm' solved it for me.  Thanks!

You know you're from a large family if:
-There are pictures of your family in matching outfits
-You write your name on the bottom of your socks

-You go to the bathroom just to get some "alone time"
-You never say "I'm bored"
-You have valuable negotiating skills and have honed them from a very young age
-You know that just because someone says your sibling's name, it doesn't mean they're not talking to you -You find creative ways to hide things you want to keep for yourself
-You've seen your mother walking laps around your property so she can get a few minutes of peace & quiet

-You shake your head in disbelief when you hear someone say they've never changed a diaper
-One sibling is getting on your nerves it's okay because you can just go hang out with a different one
-Strangers think that big sister is actually mom
-If you want some ice cream, you don't wait around to get some, because tomorrow it will be gone
-You wouldn't trade the fact that you have the opportunity to make a bunch of best friends that are stuck with you for life!
-You can make a pb & j sandwich in 10 seconds flat
-You go somewhere with another family, and people think it's a youth group
-Whenever your family goes out to eat the waiters always have to put tables together for you and when they do it is always in the back corner of the restaurant so as to keep your stereotypically rude family away from their other customers
-People continually comment that you could have a whole basketball team, or even better a baseball team
-Your mom is trying to say someone's name and she's already gone through 6 sibs' names, she probably is trying to remember yours
-You don’t have a picture of your whole family because every time you get one taken another kid shows up
-You run out of the room when your parents look at you and say someone elses name because you know it means you will have to do a job when they remember your name
-You are proficient in cleaning up broken glass and ceramic and you can tell from the sound it made when it crashed whether the item dropped is fine, cracked, or broken
-You can hear a cry and tell whether the child is hurt, angry, sad or throwing a temper tantrum within 3 seconds -You're walking around a store with little siblings and people assume they're your kids
-People compliment your parents on "how well behaved their children are...just didn't expect that with such a large group"
-You know what the "thirty second rule" is and it's importance
-You can't eat at McDonalds without breaking a fifty dollar bill
-Your family can't fit in a mini-van
-Instead of learning from your own mistakes, you learn from your siblings'
-You are the shyest person in the world, but the loudest in your family
-Other people "don't understand how your mom does it"
-Your family has paid enough overdue fines to fund the building of a new library
-Picky eaters are not tolerated because mom simply does not have the time to prepare different foods for one child
-You go looking to purchase a new appliance and the capacity is the only feature that really matters
-Everything under the sun is discussed for an hour straight around the dinner table because everyone has to put their two bits in
-You go off to college prepared to savor your independence and get so lonely for your siblings that you have to come home
-Your brother leans over your shoulder and corrects your grammar and spelling while you type on this site.
-You smile when people ask how many kids you have because you know when you answer they will repeat the number even more loudly to help themselves hear it
-You can proudly declare you are doing your part to curb human depopulation
-You go to get your picture made and the first thing the photographer says is "no, seriously"
-The invention of the wide-angled lense made your family portrait possible.
-Your mom at one point purchased different colored hangers so she could easily sort the hang-up laundy but eventually had to stop because Wal-Mart only had seven different colors to choose from
-Getting from one side of your living room to the other requires skillfully making it through an obstacle course of toys, coloring books (plus the spilled crayons), school books, extra chairs dragged in from other rooms, and small children
-You've been asked over and over if you're Mormon, Catholic or homeschooled
-You take your driver's license test in a 15 passenger van
-You move away from home, and every time you cook a meal it takes you a week to finish the leftovers
-People are constantly asking you if you are a daycare provider
-You think it is normal to grocery shop at Sam's Club
-It takes a full day to change everyone's wardrobe from one season to the next and process all of the hand-me-downs -You have your own "reserved" pew at church every Sunday
-You shared a room with no less than three people for most of your childhood
-Massive Lego wars were an unforgettable part of growing up
-You don't have to go online to get a good six-man table of poker going
-You have to squeeze four people in a row of seats in your van that was only designed to hold three
-You have brothers on four different sports teams at the same time
-Your dad won't buy a snow blower because he knows he has an unlimited supply of expendable labor to shovel the driveway instead
-You're 28 and you still have a few siblings under 6th grade
-You're closer in age to your mother than you are to your youngest brother

Ok, almost ALL of these fit us.  No joking!

You May Call Me a Traitor.

I used to be for it.  I was for almost 14 years for it.  I loved it, sang it's songs, dreamed about it's characters.  I was wholly for it.

Then, now, things have changed.

"What are you talking about?"  You are surely asking.

Star Wars fan, brace thyself.....

I'm sorry.  But then again, I'm not.  Because he is on it....

Data.  Robotic, funny and awesome.  Lt. Commander Data.

I'm not sorry I am a star wars lovin' Trekky....(oooh! So controversial!).  I want a dress like Padme's with a living room like the bridge.

I'm a traitor.  You Star wars fans may tell me that.

NOW! If you plan on continuing to not watch Star Trek, go no further....

 Most of season two's crew.
Is Data coughing?  Worf doesn't look pleased, but then again, he rarely does.
Did you know, Data can play the violin, can learn sign language in a few minuets, find language families in a few rapid moments, is immune to illnesses, Can auto-fix himself...
Moiarty!!  No, that was not random.  There really IS a Moiarty in one Star Trek.
Dr. Pulaski.  I am going to make a uniform like hers.  It looks so Durn comfy.
Capt. Jean-luc Picard.  Best Captain ever,  He even surpasses Hans Solo.  :-P
Data=Holmes, Geordie=Watson, And Dr. Pulaski=....uh....Not Irene Adler, THATS fo sho!
It didn't help my new found love that the first Star Trek I ever watched happened to be one where Data, Geordi and Pulaki played (if you wish to call it that, it wasn't fun towards the ending when Moiarty started taking control! lol) a Holmes virtual game.  I want a Holideck now.
Commander Riker.  Second in Command.  #2.  "And a beard!".
Deanna Troi.  She is an awesome kinda different.  Wouldn't it be incredible to sense/feel other people/aliens feelings?  To know if they are telling the truth?  Needless to say, Deanna might be my second favorite character.  Data is the first.  And isn't her hair pretty?
Wesley Crusher...Not much to say here.
Worf.  He is a Klingon, but for some reason, I always want to call him a klondike.  *facepalm* He is NOT a candy bar, Ashley!
Geordi LaForge.  Data's Best friend.  And he is blind.  When we first watched it, My brother Zeb asks, "Why is he wearing a car filter on his head?".  Uh,  thats not a car filter.  Or, at least, its not supposed to be.
His eyes are creepy when he takes off his 'car filter' that helps him see.  White and misty.  Odd.

And back to Data!!  I like Data.  He is funny.  His Actor is a good...uh, actor. :-D

So, what do I need to say now?  Cuz I really aren't sorry.  I'm not.  Honestly.  I am a star Wars lovin' Trekky.  You will just have to deal with it.  {Shrugs}.

Now, for the grand Finale...

DARTH DATA!!!!

^That is so lame^.
