In the 80's!!!

Before I begin my very much fun post...You deserve to see this video:

Now.  I'm not much of a fan of the Eighties...they hair styles, clothing, everything, just seems really 'out there'. And even while I'm an outgoing (at times) person, I'm not THAT out going.

So. I was invited to an 80's themed party by a good friend of mine, Sarah. (sorry, she hasn't a blog, Tumblr or Pinterest I can link to). at first I was like, "oh, just get some Stone washed jeans, a colorful shirt, I'll be ready to go!" And I might have been able to skimp on that, had my Mother, dear Mama, not remembered so MUCH about that time period. Lovely.

See how I went? Oh, L-R: Joanna, Me, Sarah, Rachel, Bethany.

We went to Goodwill, bought as close to Stone washed as we could find pants, that shirt (which I LOVE), The Belt, and then, Mama teased my hair. Mama had a blast. Naturally, she didn't primp herself up AT ALL.  Each time Mama had me look at my hair and see if I liked it, I would do a dying moan noise. Honestly, I couldn't believe she was doing this to me.  I dearly hoped I wouldn't be the only one to be in dress.

Ok....so maybe I was the most 'out there' person attending...it was worth it as soon as Sarah saw my wild hair, and colorful outfit. "I LOVE IT!!!" said she. And, we all know, making a birthday girl (even if her brithday was a couple months ago, and her family just got around the the celabration) happy is the point of the day.

Earrings and hair sprayed hair. Boy, we emptied nearly our whole Hair Spray bottle on my hair.
If you dont look at ALL of my hair, it DOES look a little cute...
Me, and Joanna. Best girl ever.
Doesn't this look like a 80s year book picture?
 80s poof.
We did indeed have so much fun! We played a few games, but most of it was spent talking. And Sarah just gets more, and more awesome.

After cake and Pizza, they turned on a bubble and fog machine. I officially want a fog machine now. It was so cool. Everything had the 80's (cigarette) haze to it!
Another outfit thing, see my lovely belt? I really like the belt and shirt. They are SO comfy.
A disco ball! Added a fun touch.
They had various posters set up around the room, and this was one of them.
Another one. My favorite one. If I could meet any President, dead or Alive, I'd pick Reagan. He is just incredible.
Reagan also happens to be Joanna's hero as well. She needed this picture.

It was fun, getting out and dressing weird. I'm not the type to stand out and be the center. I don't like dressing funky, or taking fun chances. Getting out of my comfort zone is good for me, however.

Houses, and moves and landlords..OH MY!

Ever felt like SO much has happened to you, it is just Impossible to fit in one respectable length blog post? If your answer is "yes" then you know how I feel, if you answer happens to be a "no" then You just need to wait until it happens to you! Here is that latest 'adventure' of our life!

Who likes a move? Who likes to be finely settled in your nice, spacious house, and your landlord decides he want it back?  Who? come'n...anybody?
So there you have it, our most recent predicament!
Mr. H. M. (Mr. Landlord) Drove up and said that he wants his daughter to move in, and we need to be out by 2/1/11, but his daughter (who is actually the real owner of the house, but her father tends to everything for her) said that if we cant find something, she can post pone it for April 2011. We had no idea WHAT we where going to do. Mama and Daddy had discussed moving to TN, but the timing isn't right,  maybe in a year or two. Daddy talked it over his boss (who used to be our neighbor and elder to the church we used to attend) and the president of Daddy's work (He is a elevator sales man) owns a house/office, (well, really it is a office, but the way it was built was that of an house, Shower, full kitchen, etc) and he said that We could move into that if nothing else came up. We checked it out, and decided it would work, and so Daddy talked it over to the President of the company, and the rent would be almost half of what we are paying now! The few hiccups are that since it was an office, there are 3 bathrooms, but only one shower (the boss had a stand up shower/sink off his office), There are 7 rooms, but they have a funny shape, from an aerial view, the building is a perfect hexagon! We have to share the area with a daycare, which will seem weird at first, seeing how we haven't had to deal with neighbors in almost 7 years! So, that being that, We will probably go with that, and start moving in as soon as possible. Again though, this isn't forever, (I have to remind myself that often, the kitchen is painfully small, bright side to it though, the coloring in the kitchen will make it possible for us to have a nice, retro, 50s kitchen design!) someday in the near future, will will probably find ourselfs in a U-haul headed toward Tennessee!

Our Poor calf!

Our poor, poor calf!
We had plans to keep him tethered until he was old enough to pasture. Then we'd planned to let him run with the horses. So, this morning, me and Evan put his concrete blocks and chain out beside one of the hay bales out there.
All seemed well, the Horses payed him no attention, but continued to eat.
So, we left and kep't on with our day.
About 30 min. to an hour later, Zeb went out to hang clothes on the line. The horses where gathered around him and where trying to kick him, but, due to his shortness and their tallness, it wasn't working, so, as one, Those 8 horses turned 'round and trampled him.
Zeb saw the calf try to stand up, then toppled back down.
He ran out there and brought him out of the pasture. Hamburger had bright red blood coming out of his nose, and was wobbly. Evan came out and Zeb told him had happened. Evan called Mama, and I soon followed out. His breathing was heavy, he was bleeding a good deal out of his nose, he had his head low down and kept closing his eyes. Mama called Daddy (He is out of town, why do things always happen when he is away?) and Daddy said that he thinks Hamburger has a broken rib, and that it pierced a lung (bright red blood is the blood that is in the lungs). Evan just inspected him, and yup, He can feel where the lung is broke.
So, We just put him in his kennel (he has a dog house inside a big dog run), and hope he will live. He seems to be looking up, slightly. His bleeding has slowed down, and he is a little more 'perky'.
Hope he lives. poor guy. He isn't my favorite animal, he knows that, I've told him so. But, I still don't like to see an animal suffer, unless it is a rat or mouse being fed to corn pops (our 4 foot Rat snake).
So, that is the adventure of the day! As the Jonathan park audio tapes says We "live the adventure!"

coyote trouble!

We have 3 bands of coyotes hunting in and around the pastures that surround the house.  Not very good for livestock owners. One morning when I had gotten up to walk Ella, I could hear one howling way out in the back pasture.  Then Daddy and Mama heard some a few days ago and they were MUCH closer, one as close as the swamp just beyond the yard!  But I think the most 'scariest' account of them happened to me today. I had gone out to take some pictures of wild yellow flowers that had sprung up towards our 'tree fort' (a MASSIVE 3 story tree fort that is back in the woods in the front pasture). First I started on the bunch close to the tree fort trail, I started hearing the odd sound, it was like a yapping and whine all at the same time (very odd sound!) I didn't think much of it, probably just a bird.  The lighting wasn't good there, so I went a little farther away from the TH trail, And the sound was louder over there, plus i could hear something moving around in all the dead leafs that cover the ground inside the tree line. Probably just a bird hopping around or a rabbit, no alarm. But What finally raised my attention was One of the horses (named Big Mama~ why, I don't know, she has never been a mama)  came galloping from around the woods, Her ears where laid back and she was acting startled. "She wasn't planning on finding me here, thats all" I thought. I moved slowly away and she seemed a little more calm. I started walking away, and Big Mama went on down the trail to the fort.  By the time I got to the big Livestock fence to enter our backyard, Big Mama had rounded up all the other horses and they where running out of the woods.
So, I thought, I probably just heard birds making noise and the horses moving around.
But When I got to the house and told Evan my story, and by the time i had described the call to where he could mimic it well, He told me that coyotes make that noise, So, nevertheless, until Daddy, My brave bros and a friend can rid us of these wild dogs, I wont be going to take wildflower pictures without a bodyguard! ;-D.
A dear friend of our, Named Mr. Steve is coming tonight to help the boys hunt down the critters, The boys are pretty excited! From what we hear, coyotes are hard to hunt, so you need to be SUPER quiet, SUPER still and DO NOT BE IN THE WIND.

So, hopefully either they will become nonexistent. or will simply move to better hunting grounds...cause there are some pretty good photography opportunities over there!!
